In Season: Red Snappers

June 1st marks the beginning of red snapper season, but here at Destin Offshore Fishing Charters, we’ve started a little early!

One of the most sought after offshore fishing spots in Destin, Florida, our beautiful, blue water is filled to the brim with all of the hottest species of the summer, including red snappers, groupers, amberjack, king mackerel, wahoo, Mahi Mahi, sailfish, blue marlin, and the always-popular swordfish. Just in the past two weeks, everyone here in Destin has been having an incredible time with this delicious tasting billfish.  Last week, in both of our daytime and night-time swordfish trips available to offer, we had a three for three swordfish trip! In other words, we had three fish hooked, three fish caught. The night version of this trip is the most popular, with offshore deep sea dropping and offshore trolling included as options.

Fun for all ages and the whole family, our red snapper trips book up the fastest out of all of our trips, so make sure to call ahead! Our charter boat Backlash will have 46 days for harvesting, and this includes both the nighttime and daytime options. Like we said before, nighttime is a very popular option, offering a fun way to spend a summer night and avoid the heat! No sunblock needed for this trip!

Nighttime fishing offers up a multitude of advantages compared to daytime, such as it obviously being much cooler than during the day. Especially here in Florida, where temperatures can reach anywhere in the upper nineties in the summer months, beating the heat is never a bad option. Nighttime also allows for less crowded waters and usually less wind, meaning the water is generally calmer.

Hope to see you soon!
